Spanish Speak in a Week!
Advantages: This is a great beginning course for a visual learner. It consists of 4 colorful small books and is very well made. Each book has 235 to 240 pages in them. They are set up like a flash card system that is very useful in helping you memorize the words and phrases. Each book has a CD so that you can hear the words and phrases therein helping you in your pronunciation of the word or phrase. This way you can go through the pages and practice and then when you are in a situation where you want to listen to the CDs you can review what you have learned from the book. This gives you visual and some audio to learn by.
In the books you are given explanations of the grammar and you are told how and why you use this particular structure in a given situation. This is very helpful. You will need to take the time to memorize the words and phrases. The books give you interesting characters and pictures that help you in this chore. This makes it a lot of fun and very enjoyable.
This course develops a very solid basis of the language that will help you expand your language skills. This is an especially good course for children. It would work very well with the parent working along with the child so that their progress can be monitored.
Disadvantages: Where some of the other courses help you to learn the language by listening to CDs, this course requires a lot of visual learning. If you are basically an audio learner this could be a problem for you. If you want to have flash cards to help you remember words and phrases this would be a great course. This is not the best course to learn to speak a language. It helps you more with learning words and phrases.
Comments: I highly recommend using the Spanish Speak in a Week course along with a Pimsleur Method Spanish course. By combining the two courses, you will learn how to form sentences and be able to converse in the Spanish language. Pimsleur Method Spanish will teach you to speak and understand and Speak in a Week Spanish will expand your vocabulary and help you understand verb conjugation and sentence structure.
